Stormwater drainage, kerb and gutter upgrades and road sealing are all part of the works underway on Forest Road in Batlow.

Council’s Director Assets and Infrastructure Matt Christensen said the renewal works would provide a sustainable road infrastructure to continue to host industry, business and local traffic.

“We have allocated $320,000 from our Federal Roads to Recovery grant funding and $80,000 from Council’s general fund to make essential pavement renewals to this section of road,” Mr Christensen said.

Forest Road, also known as Mill Road is located towards the southern end of Batlow and is a heavy vehicle route for NSW Forestry, Apple Industry and Snowy Hydro with a significant number of heavy vehicles including B-doubles and semi-trailers travelling along the road on a daily basis.

“Due to continuous use by heavy and light vehicles over several years, the road’s deterioration was flagged as a service level priority in our road audit, so the timing is right to do the renewal work,” Mr Christensen said.

During the road construction period a detour will be provided for residents to use Corralyn Avenue, Pioneer Street and Mill Road loop to access their properties.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of November depending on good weather.

Council will provide appropriate measures for safe traffic movement and local property access. Motorists are advised to drive safely, adhering to the condition of the road.
