Roads to Recovery Projects Completed

Snowy Valleys Council has completed its second year of the Roads to Recovery works program, delivering upgrades across the region’s road network.
This year’s program included resealing works across Tumut (Boundary Street, Wynyard Street and Merivale Street) and Adelong (Lockhart Street), along with rehabilitation works on Grahamstown Road, Courabyra Road and M2 Power Station Road in Khancoban.
Council was allocated $7.67M in 2024 under the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery Program (RTR), with funding to be delivered over a five-year period.
Phillp McMurray, Acting Director Infrastructure and Works said, “Completing this year’s program ahead of winter is a strong result. It means we’ve been able to get works done in the right conditions, improving safety on our roads, and extending the life of key routes across the region.”
The 2025/26 works build on projects delivered in the first year of the program, which included reseals on Tumut Plains Road and Dalhunty Street in Tumut, and Elizabeth Drive and Mayday Road in Batlow, along with rehabilitation and patching works across Tumbarumba, Khancoban, Rosewood and Tumut.
Mr McMurray said resealing works are prioritised based on road age and condition, helping to preserve surfaces and extend their lifespan by up to 15 years. Rehabilitation works target sections requiring more substantial treatment, improving safety and long-term performance.
Planning for the next round of Roads to Recovery works is underway, with the program to be finalised following the winter period.
