Major upgrades to the Tumbarumba Pool will be officially recognised with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and cake cutting ceremony on Friday 12 February at 4pm.

Snowy Valleys Council Mayor James Hayes will join Member for Albury Justin Clancy MP, Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack MP, Member for Eden-Monaro Kristy McBain and guests on-site to officially acknowledge the project’s completion.

The upgrades saw the existing toddler pool and concourses demolished and replaced with a new 15m x 6.5m learn-to-swim pool, a 4m x 4m baby pool and an 11m x 4m splash zone with water toys to complement the existing 28metre pool.

The project also included the installation of two accessibility chair lift arms, shade sails over the new learn-to-swim and baby pools, a new exterior fence, filtration plant and plant room to service the new pools, and solar panels on the plant room roof to regulate water temperature.

Mayor Hayes said, “Snowy Valleys Council is proud to deliver this modern swimming complex for the Tumbarumba community’.

“Feedback from locals and visitors since late December has been extremely positive and we have seen record numbers of children enrolled in the school holiday learn-to-swim classes,” he said.

“We’re pleased to see it has also encouraged more families to utilise the pools for children’s birthday parties and get-togethers with family and friends.

“The new pool complex is now a modern highly valuable asset for the wider Tumbarumba community, and I’d like to congratulate council staff and the local contractor for their hard work in delivering this fantastic facility”.

Funding of $928,000 was allocated from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Community Funds Round Two for the upgrade of the water play pool and construction of a new learn-to-swim pool.
