Wee Jasper Road Upgrade

The $350,000 Wee Jasper Road upgrade is now complete with the road fully operational again.

Council Director Assets and Infrastructure Matt Christensen said the work was finished two weeks in front of schedule due to favourable weather conditions.

“In total about 320 metres of Wee Jasper Road has been upgraded to a wider sealed road with improved shoulders, improved stormwater drainage and pavement,” Mr Christensen said.

The upgrade to the 320m long section of Wee Jasper Road just north of the Tumut Aerodrome started in early February.

The works were undertaken in several stages starting with the installation of new stormwater culverts and drains and finishing with the bitumen sealing that happened this last Monday.

“Council recognizes the importance of this road, and had identified works required to increase the width, and address localized flooding and pavement issues on the section,” Mr Christensen said.

The works included the installation of new stormwater culverts and drains, and reforming and stabilising of the deformed sections of the roadway.
