Works Underway on New Female Change Rooms and Amenities
Published on 29 April 2024
Work is underway on the construction of new female change rooms and amenities at Tumut’s Bull Paddock Recreation Reserve.
The new building will comprise both visitor and home change rooms equipped with showers, toilets, and bench seating areas, along with a referee room, storage space, and verandah.
The groundwork, including foundation, slab, and block construction has been completed, and roofing works are well underway.
Internal fit-out is scheduled to commence shortly, and the facility is on track to open for use in early Spring.
Situated next to the existing amenities, these upgrades will modernise the frequently used recreation precinct.
Local sports clubs Tumut Eagles Football Club, Tumut Rugby Union Club, Tumut Little Athletics, Tumut Cricket Club, Tumut Oztag, and school students who attend the school athletics carnivals make up some of the 8,000+ people who use the Bull Paddock Reserve annually.
The new facilities will help increase the levels of female participation in local sports and create a secure space for women to change before and after competitions.
During construction, a small portion of the parking area is temporarily closed, but works are not anticipated to impact on the playing fields or access to the existing facilities. The designated construction area is signposted with safety barriers installed.
Council received grant funding towards the project from Stronger Country Communities Fund R4 (SCCF4) and The Office of Sport Female Friendly Community Sport Facilities and Lighting Upgrades Grant Program.
