Tumbarumba YC Drop-In Sessions - movie night

Snowy Valleys Youth Council Drop-in events continue to be popular with young people, with over 40 teens joining in the June free movie night events.

A youth movie night was held at the Tumut Library on 17 June, where 21 young people watched Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Attendees enjoyed popcorn and pizza, along with additional activities including PC gaming, card games and chess, ensuring there was something for everyone.

June also marked the first Drop-in event for Tumbarumba (22 June), which was warmly received by local young people, with 20 attendees coming together to enjoy the Ghostbusters movie at the Tumbarumba Library. Participants enjoyed freshly popped popcorn and pizza supplied by Tumba Takeaway.

A Youth Council spokesperson said the strong attendance at both sessions highlighted the value of providing engaging opportunities for young people to connect and enjoy positive social experiences in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

“We have plans for more events in both Tumut and Tumbarumba and Council is also in discussions with the Batlow Interact Group about potential collaborative youth activities to be hosted at the Batlow Library.”

Looking ahead, July will feature a youth pizza and gaming night at the Tumbarumba Library (20 July) and a pizza and interactive trivia night at the Tumut Library (30 July). Young people aged 12–24 are encouraged to attend.
