Integrated Water Cycle Management (IWCM) Project
- Project typeStrategic Planning Documentation
- Project value$1,257,623.00
The project
The Integrated Water Cycle Management (IWCM) Strategy is a 30-year strategic plan for a Local Water Utility (LWU), designed through thorough analysis and evidence, to ensure the LWU provides customers with safe, reliable, accessible, and affordable water supply and sewerage services. It also focuses on managing current and future risks, including major disruptions.
Why are we undertaking the project?
This project is essential because it:
- Sets up a Levels of Service (LoS) framework, clearly linking our water and sewer objectives, standards, and performance indicators.
- Pinpoints key issues and needs related to water security, water quality improvements, sewage management, and distribution/collection system works.
- Identifies the best-fit water supply and sewerage scheme options while properly sizing infrastructure components and non-build measures.
- Determines the Local Water Utility (LWU) implementation priorities.
- Identifies the optimal 30-year Integrated Water Cycle Management (IWCM) plan, ensuring we provide reliable, affordable, and sustainable water services that meet community needs, safeguard public health, and protect the environment.
Project Budget
This project is funded through a $597,023 grant from NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), along with a contribution from Council.
Project Status
Council has engaged a consultant to develop the strategic planning documents. The draft documents will be placed on public exhibition before being finalised. The project is set for completion by the end of 2025.
