Snowy Valleys Council is set to commence riparian stabilisation works along Adelong Creek to help prevent further erosion, protect local wildlife, and improve water quality and creek ecology.

The stabilisation works will focus on two locations, Bleak Street (near Selwyn Street) - northern bank and Adelong Showgrounds - northern bank and mid-channel.

Planned activities include shaping, grading, and stabilising the creek banks using rock, logs, and root balls and then post-construction remediation and revegetation with native plantings

The works will improve creek stability, enhance safety and visual amenity, and support the long-term health of the local environment.

Funded by the NSW Government’s Severe Weather and Flood Grant, the first phase of the project was the completion of the Review of Environmental Factors and design development by council’s contractor, Soil Conservation Service (SCS).

Community Information Session

Residents and interested community members are invited to an information session at the Bleak Street site on Thursday 26 February at 3:30pm, where Council’s Project Manager and SCS representatives will provide further details about the project and answer any questions.

To follow along with the project visit Council’s website www.svc.nsw.gov.au/Adelong-Creek-Repair-Works or attend the information session.
