Snowy Valleys Council’s annual Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) documents are now on Public Exhibition for community feedback.

The suite of draft documents includes the proposed Schedule of Fees and Charges, the combined Delivery Program and Operational Plan including the 2024-25 Budget, Long Term Financial Plan, and the Revenue Policy.

The draft combined Delivery Program/Operational Plan is the community’s strategic goals translated into actions which will be delivered in the next financial year.

The 2024/2025 draft budget outlines Council's committed expenditure for the forthcoming financial year and has been framed around maintaining services and exiting infrastructure, as well as implementing the Capital Works program including externally funded projects.

Council has proposed a $41.6 million Capital Works program for 2024-25 with more than $5.7 million allocated to refurbishing and maintaining local roads and bridges.

The capital works program also features:

  • $4.0M for upgrades to Wastewater Treatment Plants
  • $3.3M for upgrades to Water Treatment Plants
  • $4.7M for Emergency Flood and Storm recovery works
  • $9.9M for the Tumut Aerodrome Upgrade Project
  • $9.7M for the Tumut Multi-Purpose Centre Project

The draft 2024/25 Fees and Charges Schedule sets out the fees that Council will charge for services and programs.

The fees are set based on Council's Revenue Policy, considering factors like community service obligations, service costs, commercial nature, and user's ability to pay.

They include fees from legislation, Council decisions, and recommendations from the Local Government Association of NSW. Miscellaneous fees are raised by CPI.

The draft 2024-2034 Long Term Financial Plan outlines two 10-year financial scenarios.  Scenario 1 is the base case with reliance on the rate cap, while Scenario 2 includes the proposed 42.38% SRV that would be applied over three years.

Community members are invited to review the documents during the public exhibition period and provide a submission to Council.
