2024 NSW Local Government Elections

2024 NSW Local Government elections will be held on Saturday, 14 September 2024

Local government elections are a vital part of the democratic process, ensuring local councils are accountable to their local communities.

The nomination period for the elections starts on Monday, 5 August 2024 and closes at 12 noon, Wednesday, 14 August 2024.

Snowy Valleys Council is made up of 9 councillors (one of whom is the mayor). Councillors elected in September 2024 will serve a four-year term.

Voting in the Election

Voting is compulsory at all NSW local government elections except for council polls. Councils have engaged the NSW Electoral Commissioner to administer elections on Saturday, 14 September 2024
