Snowy Valleys Council has met with representatives from the Pratt Foundation to discuss potential community infrastructure projects for the community.
Mayor James Hayes confirmed recent discussions with Ian Allen and Bill Hurditch from the Pratt foundation have taken place to explore potential projects that Snowy Valleys Council and the Foundation can jointly deliver for benefit the local community.
“This is the first opportunity that the new council has had to explore a joint project with the Pratt Foundation since the formation of the elected council and it was exciting to discuss potential projects that would have a great benefit for the region”, Mayor Hayes said.
The Pratt Foundation are very eager to more forward and Council is currently assessing the capital and whole of life costing of a number of projects, including but not limited to, a heated swimming pool facility or a multipurpose indoor sporting complex. Once this assessment is completed, concept plans and feasibility of the projects will be placed on exhibition for community consultation.
The emphasis will be on improving the lifestyle and wellbeing of all residents and the current community consultation process for the Community Strategic Plan has provide us feedback that there is a community need for better community infrastructure such as a heated swimming pool facility or a multipurpose indoor sporting complex,” Clr Hayes added.
It is anticipated that the funds from the Pratt Foundation, Federal and State Governments along with a contribution from Snowy Valleys Council will be used to fund a large community infrastructure project that will have long-lasting benefits to the community.
