Local Businesses and landowners in Tumbarumba’s Town Centre are being asked to provide feedback on a proposal to reintroduce 2-hour timed parking along The Parade.

In a move to enhance business opportunities within Tumbarumba's town centre, Council is proposing to reintroduce timed parking restrictions within The Parade (between Selwyn Street and Bridge Street).

Historically, two-hour parking restrictions existed, but were removed during town centre improvement works. The current proposal is to reinstate the 2P signage in the same locations.

The reintroduction of timed parking aims to increase vehicle turnover, ensure appropriate parking availability, enhance trading opportunities, and improve traffic and pedestrian safety within the town centre.

Additionally, the reintroduction will encourage shop owners and staff to better utilise nominated unrestricted areas such as the Goldfields Park parking precinct, plus Union Lane and Winton Street Carparks.

This balanced approach allows sufficient time for consumers to shop while maintaining parking accessibility.

Letters and hard-copy surveys will be delivered to businesses and landowners over the next few days.

Anyone who believes they have been missed from the delivery schedule is encouraged to contact the Council to obtain a copy of the survey.

At the April 2024 Council Meeting Councillors adopted a Traffic Committee recommendation to survey stakeholders along the Parade Tumbarumba on the proposed introduction of 2-hour parking restrictions and new line marking and to approve the timed parking changes if a 50% majority supported the change.
