Snowy Valleys Council is welcoming Expressions of Interest (EOI) from community groups to deliver two exciting events in 2023 - Winter Bites Adelong and Khancoban Long Lunch.

Following on from the success of the inaugural Winter Bites and Long Lunch events, Council is looking to apply for $150,000 through the NSW Local Government Recovery Grants Program to aid the delivery of the events in 2023.

Open from Friday 24 March until Monday 3 April, Council’s EOI will allow community groups to put forward their interest to support the funding application.

Council is excited at the prospect of boosting Snowy Valleys’ calendar of events, with the hope of establishing Winter Bites Adelong and Khancoban Long Lunch as annual community events.

Funding was received through the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery (RTBR) Grants in 2020 for the delivery of three single-day events in Adelong, Batlow and Tumbarumba and a Long Lunch in Khancoban.

The Winter Bites events featured unique line-ups of live music, local and regional food and drinks and entertainment activities. The first event was held in June 2021 at Tumbarumba and after COVID-19 delays the festival continued in 2022 with rescheduled events in Adelong and Batlow.

Winter Bites Adelong attracted over 1600 people, and became a 2-in-1 event with Adelong Meat Up holding a BBQ competition where teams competed for the inaugural title using locally sourced beef and lamb.

In September last year almost 100 people attended the Khancoban Long Lunch in the picturesque Khancoban township featuring locally sourced food and drinks and live music.
