Snowy Valleys Council has taken steps to improve the development related application process with the launch of the NSW Planning Portal.

From 1 July 2021, all new development related applications and post consent certificates must be submitted to Council online through the NSW Planning Portal.

Council’s Executive Director Community and Corporate Paul Holton said the introduction of the online portal will provide the community with consistency in development processes across NSW.

“The new portal will offer our customers convenience and the tools required to meet their development needs more effectively,” Mr Holton said.

“The new portal provides a greater level of transparency, allowing easier access to information and lodging and is essentially a one-stop-shop to make the application process easier overall,” he said.

Once registered, users can view, manage, track and progress applications online via their user dashboard. They will also be able to submit documents and be notified when decisions have been made.

As part of the launch of the new online service Council is offering one-on-one training and support for owner builders through the SVC Planning Portal Kiosk.

Mr Holton said while Council highly recommends applications engage a Planning Consultant to assist with the process, for those individuals with plans for minor works council staff were available to help with assistance in using the Planning Portal.

“People will be able to book an appointment with our SVC Planning Portal Kiosk to receive one-on-one assistance with the planning portal including registering an account and navigation,” Mr Holton said.

The Kiosk is available by appointment only and times can be booked for Tuesdays in Tumut and Thursdays in Tumbarumba.

To make an appointment customers can use the online kiosk booking form at www.svc.nsw.gov.au/planning-kiosk or email [email protected] or call customer service during business hours on 1300 275 782 (1300 ASK SVC).

From 1 July, all new development related applications and post consent certificates must be submitted to Council online through the NSW Planning Portal.

These include:

  • Development Applications
  • Section 4.55 Modification Applications
  • Complying Development Certificates
  • Construction Certificates
  • Occupation Certificates
  • Subdivision Certificates
  • Appointments of Council as a Private Certifier
