Snowy Valleys Council is doing its bit to keep communities cool by extending the operating hours at Council Pools for the School Holidays.

Council’s Acting Director Heinz Kausche said changing to the holiday opening hours meant that the pools can be accessed and enjoyed for longer each day to help people cool off during the predicted hot weather period.

“Our pools are a great, free resource for everyone to access and we want to ensure that during the upcoming heat wave they are available to the public for as long as possible,” Mr Kausche said.

“We will also be instigating a process of keeping individual pools open for an extra hour in the evening if the temperature in the town is over 40 degrees.

“The decision to stay open an extra hour will be made by the Pool teams and will be on a pool-by-pool basis”.

From Thursday 19 December both Adelong and Tumut Pools will be open from 10am to 6.30pm, while Batlow will open from 12noon to 6.30pm and the Khancoban pool will operate each day from 12noon to 6pm. The Tumbarumba pool will continue normal operating hours of 11am to 6pm.

All five facilities will be closed on Christmas day and Boxing day (25/26 December) and New Year’s day (1 January 2020).
