Brungle Road Black Spot Works March 2023

Works have commenced in earnest this week on the $680,614 safety upgrade project along Brungle Road between Wee Jasper Road and Cockatoo Road.

The 600m narrow section of Brungle Road, approximately 2.7km from the Wee Jasper Road intersection, was identified as a crash ‘black spot’ area due to its significant crash history.

The section of the road is hilly terrain and has three tight curves, two of which are on crests with steep embankments and batters.

Funded under the latest Federal Government Black Spot Program the project includes the widening of the three tight corners, improve superelevation, strengthening of the road pavement, improvements to stormwater drainage and installation of road safety signs, guideposts, and road markings.

Sections of Brungle Road have previously undergone safety upgrades thanks to the Federal Government’s Black Spot Program.

Back in 2018 Council delivered $250,000 in upgrades and safety improvements on a significant curve of the road approximately 1km from the Wee Jasper Road intersection.

These current works will ensure Brungle Road is an even safer road to travel on and should help to significantly reduce the number of future crash incidents.

Road works will be carried out in segments to facilitate traffic movements and the works are expected to be completed by the end of June 2023, weather dependent.

Motorists are advised to drive safely, adhering to the condition of the road.
