Six new cabins at the Batlow Caravan Park are now available as temporary accommodation for locals impacted by the recent bushfire.

Snowy Valleys Council Mayor James Hayes said, “Council is pleased to be able to provide the new cabins to displaced bushfire affected residents as a safe and affordable accommodation option whilst they navigate their way through the clean-up and rebuild process”.

After careful consultation with local real-estate agencies Council has engaged Ray White Tumut to attend to the ongoing management of the properties for a period of up to 2 years at nominal rent.

NSW Government Department of Family and Community Services (Emergency Housing) will work with Ray White to ensure a fair selection process is followed and the cabins are given to priority applicants.

Executive Director Community and Corporate Paul Holton said “Council will remain impartial to the process and will entrust Emergency Housing and Ray White to adhere to their standard procedures to select suitable applicants”.

“The cabins will only be available to bushfire affected residents who are in need of emergency housing” Mr Holton said.

The contemporary two bedroom cabins are fully furnished and fitted with a queen ensemble, two double bunks, sub floor skirting, microwave, fridge and split system air-conditioning.

Interested locals are asked to contact Ray White Tumut on 6947 6777 to arrange an inspection and discuss the application process.

To comply with Government COVID-19 restrictions the Batlow Caravan Park will not be opening to the public at this time.
